Before the game even began, Irving had a run-in with a fellow star whom he once challenged in the past.

He also wore a special edition of his own Nike sneakers.

And then Irving ended up where every All-Star wants to be.

For the evening, Irving finished with 31 points, 14 assists and five assists in his first ever All-Star start. He also won the games All-Star MVP Award for his performance, as he was essential down the stretch, dishing and scoring for the Eastern Conference All-Stars, who were at one point down 18 points. This was the Irving we saw a year ago on this weekend, the one who looked like (and still does for that matter) one of the NBA’s next big stars.

Also, new NBA commissioner Adam Silver called him his friend.

He also received his fare share of love on the inter webs.
