Cavaliers fans have already started to publicly LeBron James to return to Cleveland.

Lead by 24-year old Josh Raggi, a small group of Cavaliers fans have started a website and also have Twitter and Instagram accounts set up. Raggi and three others will be passing out 2,000 bright green t-shirts outside Quicken Loans Arena from 5:30 to 7:15. Then, on Monday, a “Come Home LeBron” billboard will be put up near St. Vincent St. Mary High School (James’ alma mater) for four to eight week. It will go up again twice more before March. James, if he opts out of his contract, will opt out in March. The campaign’s logo is below.

You can read more about Blair and the entire project in an article from the Akron Beacon Journal. Now for my two cents…

I admire these fans for taking the time to organize this, but I can’t co-sign any sort of campaign to bring LeBron James back. If it is meant to happen, it will happen. And if it doesn’t, then it doesn’t and the world moves on. And he can’t even begin taking offers until July.

Plus, this also takes away from what really matters about the Cavaliers: the Cavaliers themselves. Talking about a player who A) isn’t even under contract and B) likely will never no be part of the Wine & Gold again isn’t something I can get behind. It almost makes Cleveland fans as whiny and unrealistic. Energy is better spent on rooting for the players who actually take the court as members of the Cavaliers. Did I mention that James can’t even court other offers until July?
