In last night’s game with the San Antonio Spurs, the Dallas Mavericks lost in the finals seconds after Vince Carter put up a fade-away three at the buzzer. That loss closed out a road trip for the Mavericks and took them to 30-34 on the season.
The Cavaliers begin a road trip without their All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving. Without Irving, the offense load will be distributed to other players, but all eyes will be on Dion Waiters. When Irving has been out, Waiters has been carrying the offensive load, averaging over 20 points.

Cleveland is coming off of a victory at home against the struggling Washington Wizards. Stringing together wins has not been easy for this team and won’t get any easier as they travel to Dallas.
This season the Cavaliers haven’t faired well against the Western Conference, putting together a record of 2-9. Their two wins have come against both Los Angeles teams: Clippers on the road, Lakers at home. In the last matchup between the Cavs and Mavs, Dallas won 103-95 despite the 26-point performance put up by Irving.
Dirk Nowitzki led the Mavericks last night with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Nowitzki hasn’t put together a spectacular season, but he has been trying to recover from a knee injury. He will be a player the Cavs have to contain if they want any chance of winning this game. Whether it will be Tristan Thompson or Tyler Zeller, they will have to respect his jumper and guard him out on the perimeter.
Ever since the Jon Leuer trade, in which we acquired Marreese Speights and Wayne Ellington, our bench has been very productive in our victories. With our star point guard out, the bench will play an even bigger role in scoring. Speights is coming off of the Cavs’ Tuesday night victory playing 15 minutes in which he scored zero points on 0-for-5 shooting.
Despite missing their All-Star, the Cavs have a chance at victory tonight with Dallas coming off a tough loss against the Spurs last night. Shaun Livingston will have a significant role in the offense tonight. He dished out six assists against the Wizards Tuesday night.
He will have a significant height advantage over the Mavericks starting point guard, Mike James. This is one of few matchups that actually favors the Cavs.
