After an awful outing against the Indiana Pacers, the Cavaliers’ big men, Tyler Zeller and Tristan Thompson each respond with a double-double leading the Cavs to victory in Milwaukee 94-82.
All five starters scored in double digits tonight and wee led by Dion Waiters in scoring tonight with 18. He had an efficient night shooting the ball going 9-17 from the field in 27minutes. More impressively they defended real well as a team, holding the Bucks to 39% shooting. They only allowed 11 fast break points to a team that likes to get out and run.
The performance of the night goes to Luke Walton, yes I said Luke Walton, who scored seven points and six rebounds. He found himself getting some playing time tonight because the Cavs had matchup problems with Ersan Ilyasova on the court. Ilyasova signed a big contract in the off season and hasn’t performed up to expectations this season. Walton’s defense continued to give Ilyasova problems.
After an abysmal performance last night Zeller improved defensively against Larry Sanders and Luke Mbah a Moute. What is double-double doesn’t show is his 4-14 shooting on the night before fouling out.
C.J Miles had one of his most impressive performances coming of the bench this year scoring 16 points.
The Cavaliers out played the Bucks all game but were never able to put them away because of the performance from Monta Ellis. Ellis finished with 39 points. Other than him, no other Bucks player scored in double digits. It didn’t matter who Byron Scott threw on Ellis to defend, no one was able to stop him. From the field he shot 15-27. Scott has to be happy with the win and his team’s defense, but have to be concerned how his guards were unable to contain Ellis.
The Cavs have three days off before returning to action on Wednesday in DC to take on the Wizards. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
