Breaking News! No, I’m being serious today…kind of.
ESPN is reporting today that LeBron James seems to be attempting to recruit Chris Bosh to the Cavaliers. (Great sign for Cavs fans because that just might mean that the King is officially a member of the Wine & Gold for the 2010-11 season.) It is also being reported that the Raptors are very interested in the package that the Cavaliers’ front office has offered for the all-star forward – likely Delonte West, JJ Hickson and/or Anderson Varejao, Anthony Parker and a possibly draft pick.
In an offseason plagued by the uncertainty over the status of our King, it would be an absolutely incredible feat for Cleveland to land two superstars. But my only issue with the proposed trade is that Anderson Varejao may be headed to Canada. For those of you who have been around the Gospel during the season, you know that I am a HUGE fan of the Wild Thing. I like what he brings to the court night in and night out and, quite frankly, Andy places second in the MVP voting within the franchise (in my opinion, at least). If Gilbert and Grant can pull off a trade that doesn’t include Andy, it would be a definite steal for the Cavaliers – even if that trade involved Antawn Jamison (and, don’t get me wrong, I really like having Jamison around).
If Andy is the centerpiece that brings Bosh to Cleveland, then I really hesitantly say so be it. Just keep James here. And bring Bosh to the great city of Cleveland, Ohio.
In the words of a great philosopher – Larry the Cable Guy – Get ‘er done, Mr. Gilbert. Get ‘er done.
