Just hours away from the Cavaliers season opener against the Boston Celtics, rumors are swirling around Cleveland. A source close to the Cavaliers has hinted that Cleveland may be looking to acquire another guard before the end of the week.
This report comes after a Domestic Violence report was filed on Delonte West over the weekend. The report was filed Saturday after West and his wife got into a dispute at their home.
Sadly, this isn’t West’s first run in with the law this year. As many of you may remember, Delonte West was arrested last month in Maryland for possession of firearms after police found three loaded guns on him while he was driving his motorcycle.
Since his arrest in September, West has been absent from the team due to personal reasons. West suffers from Bipolar disorder and has been battling with depression for the past couple months.
If West’s absence continues Cavalier fans may be the ones battling with depression. West played a key role in the Cavaliers success last season.
Stephen Jackson, Jamaal Tinsley, and even Larry Hughes have been some of the names swirling around Cleveland. But none have been buzzed about as much as that of Antonio Daniels.
We’ve become quite aware of who Antonio Daniels is here in Cleveland. Daniels played for the Washington Wizards for 4 years before being traded to the New Orleans Hornets last season. Daniels is set to clear waviers today and has been in talks with Cleveland since late last week.
Daniels would be a huge pickup if he could return to his 07-08 form. The Cavaliers are in desperate need of a hybrid guard who can feel comfortable playing both the point and the two guard.
The Columbus native is set to clear waivers today, and is looking to sign for the veterans minimum of $1.3 Million for one year.
