After losing out to Detroit with Villanueva a couple names have been thrown around in Cleveland. One of those names being that of Trevor Ariza. The key defender in Los Angeles’ Championship run is on the verge of leaving, sources say. With a hand full of teams interested in Ariza, the Lakers are unwilling to pay him more than the Mid-Level Exception of 5.6 million.
Cleveland is extremely interested in Ariza, and the Coaching Staff sat down with him on Wednesday. Even though the Cavs can only offer a MLE contract to Ariza, his current situation with the Lakers has Ariza taking offers from multiple teams.
Cleveland is one of five teams interested in Ariza. The other four teams include the Clippers, Rockets, Blazers, and Raptors. However only the Blazers and Raptors can offer more than the Mid-Level Exception.
The Cavaliers have also expressed interest in signing free agent veteran, Ron Artest.
